YOONDAEGI
Daegi Yoon (b. 1996, Iksan, South Korea) creates paintings inspired by Cubism and Korean minimalism from the 1950s - 60s and personal history. His work centers on quiet inner emotion and a restrained, minimal approach. He builds figures and objects with simplified forms that still hold a strong presence, and uses layered colors and marks on the surface to show a sense of time. For him, the canvas becomes not just an image but a place where memory and emotion settle.
His paintings carry a calm stillness with a subtle tension, the use of space and simple composition leads viewers to follow the quiet movement and direction within the image. His design background in Korea and his life in Paris naturally shape the way he works with color, texture, and surface, creating a visual language that is minimal yet rich in depth.
Yoon explores three main themes in his practice: the body, the surface, and the direction of consciousness. His paintings capture small movements inside silent moments, revealing the depth of a figure or object through minimal forms and controlled layers of color.
Since 2024, Yoon has been based in Paris.
